The gorgeous Park of Cilento And Vallo di Diano frame is going to host the event Baccanali with music, art and culture.Opening is on Sunday 23/7 with the contemporary art exhibition "Medusa/Riflessioni" that presents the works of four important artists in Palazzo Marone. The whole cultural event takes place during the most festive period of the year in Monte San Giacomo and includes, among the various activities, "urban excursions" to discover small but interesting places. After the festive days for the Patron Saints of the village, on 30/7 three nigths featuring live music and local specialities, and not only, start. The event closes on 16/8 with the finissage of the art exhibition.
The 2017 edition of the event called "Baccanali" was born from the idea of creating a "heterogeneous offer" that, while dealing with different forms of experession and culture, remains anchored to the principles of revival and improvement of our places. In addition to the previous editions, which have been very successful with the outdoor concerts of live music, this year the event aims to promote the culture, the art and most of all the territory through a polythematic route including: a contemporary art exhibition, conferences, walks to discover the village, live music concerts.Starting with the mentioned principles, the activities are carried out following an order that places culture first and then celebrations(Baccanali) that represent the concluding act of a much wider experience. In particular,on 23th of july the contemporary art exhibition named "Medusa/Riflessioni" opens officially and at the same time the full programme of the event is presented. The day after and in tune with the beginning of the celebrations in honour of the "Patrons" St. Giacomo and St. Anna that bring a great crowd from all over the world, there will be an historic conference on the subject "Universitas Civium" with the presence of the historians Arturo Didier and Giovanni Lovito, the journalist Aldo Bianchini(Il Quotidiano di Salerno) and the mayor of Monte San Giacomo, Raffaele Accetta.During the conference, informative brochures on the university of the fifteenth century and on Monte San Giacomo lanes will be handed out. The same day of the conference,in order to enhance the Monte San Giacomo fifteenth-century fountain, we can attend an artistic performance near this monument which has come to our day thanks to the strong will of a congregation of citizens:Universitas Civium. For the whole period of the event, a stage tour is open through a walk to discover the village and to enhance those small but interesting monuments, also children of that great legacy that is the cultural italian heritage. To recap the idea of the celebration meant as the culmination of a cultural journey, in the days ranging from 30 July to August, three evenings open for the 110th anniversary of the McLogan pub with great live music. The first live show is a tribute to "Pat Romano", an italian-american artist who failed on 1st April 2016 and of Monte San Giacomo origin. Born in Hoboken(USA), he returned to "his roots with musical influence on successive generations".During the second night, entitled "Culture from the world",in addition to the live music, various gastronomic specialties are offered, with which to cover the cultural exchanges that the "sangiacomesi" have experienced during their migrations. The third night the protagonist is the McLogan Pub celebrating its 110 years of activity in the heart of the village. The event benefits from the presence of great artists who make the celebrations noteworthy. The event is open with the contemporary art exhibition "MEDUSA/RIFLESSIONI", which can be visited at the "Palazzo Marone", every day until 16/8 during the following schedule:10.00-12.00 a.m. - 18.00-21.00 p.m. FREE ENTRY FOR ALL EVENTS.
